Donations are tax deductable.
Due to changes in demand for different products, insufficient staff and funding to repair or clean items and the advancement of technology there are several items we do not accept as donations. Our apologies for the inconvenience, but certain items do not sell and thus have to be discarded. Since the Old Town Mission pays for trash services, we have to cover the cost of disposing of these items. Please be mindful when donating as to make the most of your contribution to the services we provide the community. Thank you very much for your understanding and generosity.
Thoughts from the Thrift Store...
A couple of weeks ago, a customer returned to the Old Town Mission Thrift Store to relate this amazing story. She had discovered a beautiful dress on our clothing shelf that someone had generously donated and she purchased it for only $2.50. She then entered a beauty pageant wearing her new thrift store dress. Out of 21 contestants, she won first place and the title of Ms. Senior Arizona 2016. She will compete for the national title in Atlantic City, N.J. in October.
That true story reminds me of this beautiful truth. Like that thrift store dress, we may consider ourselves “discards” because of our past experiences, addicting habits, failures, etc. We may feel like we are placed on a shelf and our life has very little value. However, we need only to realize that Jesus Christ purchased us by His death and shed blood on the Cross of Calvary. When we surrender our will and our lives to His Lordship, He makes us a brand new person.
We stand forgiven and holy in the sight of Almighty God.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.”
(II Corinthians 5:17)
